Blum’s is not only a retail shop, it is a historical gem. It’s weathered every economic storm, and just recently, it renovated its space to make it more appealing to shoppers.
In 1927, the business was established by Arthur and Molly Blum as Blum’s Corset Shop. The couple was newly married and moved to Patchogue where they started the family business on South Ocean Avenue. After a fire, the business was moved to Main Street and moved again to the present-day site at 27 East Main Street. Currently, the location is co-managed by Marc Siegel and Cherie Allyne, and has been for the past 16 years. Blum’s has expanded their location twice, giving it the distinction of the largest retailer on Main Street.
Blum’s offers swimwear, bras and cruise wear all year long, and they have a very large selection of each. Salespeople offer professional bra fittings so women can find out if they are wearing the correct size. No matter what size that is, Blum’s probably has it.
“We carry the largest selection of swimsuits on Long Island,” said Siegel. “We offer great service and are known for our extensive size selection.”
In 2002, Blum’s opened a second location in Williamsville, New York to expand their product line and expertise to Western New York and the Greater Niagara area. Shoppers are also welcome to browse and shop on their website.
