Patchogue has developed a dynamic art scene over the past few years, with art on display at Artspace and Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company, the arts showcased at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, films screened at Plaza Media Arts Center and the Patchogue Arts Council with their headquarters right on Terry Street. With all of this wonderful art surrounding us, are you aware that you can learn to express your own creativity at Gather Studio in downtown Patchogue?
Gather Studio is located at 83 East Main Street, Suite 5 in Patchogue, New York. This location is the only one of its kind and it has been inPatchogue for four years. Gather Studio is owned by R. Alison Rosa-Schultz, whose focus is education, and Lisa Slomin, who focuses on the arts, and they chose its current location because there are “great towns on the south shore between Sayville and Bellport.” The beautiful loft that they found in Patchogue for Gather Studio was a perfect find.
At Gather Studio, instruction is offered in various arts and crafts and open studiotime is available on-site. The classes or workshops that Gather Studio offers are called gatherings and some of them include: Learn to Hand Build Pottery, Beginning Crochet, Wheel-Thrown Pottery, Drawing and Clay Sculpture, among others. There are also gatherings that incorporate simultaneous instruction for both adults and children. Gather Studio even hosts paint nights with all of the supplies and instruction included. For a small fee, open studio hours are available to anyone who wishes to use Gather Studio to utilize equipment or just to have a place to create.
“Our goal is to continue to provide resources and support for learning and creativity,” said Alison and Lisa of Gather Studio.
